PR Warrior is an online resource for all things PR, social media, content marketing and digital storytelling – human-powered communications with a twist of technology and a dollop of openness!
PR Warrior started life as a blog in 2007, but over time has evolved to become something much more.
Today, PR Warrior represents an idea – an attitude, a guiding philosophy for progressive-thinking entrepreneurs, social and community leaders, and professional experts wanting to build a respected and credible brand in today’s distrustful, digital-first world.
While the PR Warrior ethos is rooted in traditional public relations, it has always been about being at the forefront of the communications revolution, and leveraging the power of digital technology to build a deeper and more human connection with the people who matter most to the success of your business, cause or issue.
Importantly, while it’s easy to hung up on the tech – all the shiny new tools coming on-stream seemingly on a daily basis – it’s absolutely critical we stay focused on the things that will help us grow our influence and create more impact in the marketplace.
To that end, it’s how we use the technology that will make the difference in the long run: the connections we make, the stories we tell, the content we create, the media coverage we generate, the interaction we have on social channels, the public ‘hat-tips’ we earn, and the influencers we build relationships with.
But if we strip it right back, we should aspire to strategically use social media, content marketing, media and influencer relations – collectively: owned, earned and social media – to develop and build upon the following four foundational elements:
- RECOGNITION – Become known and remembered for all the right reasons!
- RESONANCE – Cut through the noise with your story and your message!
- RELATIONSHIPS – Deepen the level of connection with the people who matter most to the success of your business, cause or issue!
- REPUTATION – Actively enhance and protect how your brand is perceived in the marketplace!
Of course, get the combination of these four cornerstones right, and they will help pave the way to greater influence and impact in the marketplace, resulting in more leads and sales if you’re running a business, or increased advocacy and donations if you’re a nonprofit.
About the founder
Veteran public relations pro Trevor Young (below) established the PR Warrior blog in July, 2007, and has guided it to this very day.
The blog, along with his presence on social media, has led to all sorts of opportunities for Trevor, including national media interviews, a deal with the world’s biggest business book publisher, and a professional speaking career that has seen him deliver keynotes right across Australia, as well as speak to audiences overseas in Asia, US and the UK.
